Spirometry
Worksite Health Tasmania provides onsite spirometry to support workplace respiratory health monitoring and health surveillance programs.
Spirometry can assist in identifying changes in lung function over time, particularly for workers exposed to dusts, fumes, vapours or other airborne respiratory hazards. It does not diagnose occupational lung disease on its own; abnormal or concerning results require appropriate medical review.
Testing is performed using validated spirometry equipment, with calibration and verification completed in accordance with manufacturer requirements and current professional standards before testing sessions. Results are reviewed for technical acceptability and repeatability prior to reporting, in accordance with current TSANZ technical standards.

Where further assessment is required, workers are advised to seek review with their treating medical practitioner, or referral can be made to the employer’s nominated occupational physician or medical provider where appropriate and authorised.

Workplace Drug & Alcohol Screening
Worksite Health Tasmania provides onsite workplace drug and alcohol screening across Tasmania to support workplace safety, policy compliance and risk management.
Testing is undertaken by trained collectors using documented procedures and digital chain-of-custody systems where required. Urine and oral fluid drug screening is performed in accordance with recognised Australian Standards, with breath alcohol testing available using compliant breath alcohol equipment.

Standards

Not-negative results
Where an initial screening result is reported as not negative, confirmatory analysis is arranged through a NATA-accredited laboratory using validated analytical methods.
Laboratory-confirmed results requiring medical interpretation may be referred to an independent Medical Review Officer (MRO) in accordance with the employer’s agreed workplace drug and alcohol policy, consent processes and reporting protocols.
A well-managed drug and alcohol testing program supports safer workplaces by helping employers identify and manage risks associated with impairment. Testing should form part of a broader workplace policy that includes worker education, clear procedures, privacy protections, procedural fairness and agreed pathways for managing not-negative results.
Workplace Health Surveillance
Worksite Health Tasmania provides occupational health surveillance services to support employers whose workers are exposed to identified workplace health hazards requiring ongoing health monitoring or health surveillance.
Services are delivered in collaboration with medical practitioners and NATA-accredited laboratories, supporting workplace health surveillance programs developed in accordance with relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and contemporary clinical guidance.

Supporting employers
Occupational health surveillance assists employers monitor the health of workers who are exposed to specific workplace hazards where ongoing monitoring is required under legislation, recognised standards or workplace risk assessments.
Where abnormal findings or health concerns are identified, appropriate referral pathways are initiated in collaboration with the worker's treating medical practitioner, the employer's nominated occupational physician or other relevant healthcare providers, with the worker's knowledge and consent where required.
Workplace Vaccination Programs
Worksite Health Tasmania provides onsite workplace vaccination clinics across Tasmania to support workforce health, reduce disruption and improve access to recommended immunisations.
Vaccination programs are delivered by an Authorised Nurse Immuniser in accordance with the Australian Immunisation Handbook, relevant National Immunisation Program recommendations where applicable, and Tasmanian Public Health requirements.

Where appropriate, immunity screening can be arranged to help determine whether vaccination is required. This supports appropriate immunisation planning, helps avoid unnecessary vaccination, and assists employers and workers to understand their occupational vaccination requirements.
